Can a new local manufacturing workforce development program that targets workers who are not traditionally engaged in the sector overcome racial disparities in its hiring and wage rates? Yes, says Lissy Rand, executive director of workforce partnerships for MAGNET, a local manufacturing workforce organization in northeast Ohio, based on research into the program’s ability to connect underrepresented workers, especially Black men and women, with jobs in manufacturing.
