Ohio State University doctoral candidate Lesley Schneider shares research examining whether Ban the Box laws have helped employers evolve their attitudes toward applicants with criminal records. Her study finds that about 80 percent of surveyed businesses had removed criminal history application questions, but about 20 percent were still noncompliant with the law, and many still included a background check statement.
