Project Overview

Comprehensive data and evidence on workforce development training programs and providers are limited. This makes it difficult to drive systemic change in the workforce development sector and to make informed decisions about how to equitably allocate resources to workforce development.

This project seeks to identify more effectively how the workforce development sector is serving and underserving different communities, understand the types of jobs the sector trains for, and orient resource allocation and systemic change toward equity, effective programs, and areas of highest need. Researchers will continue enriching the Workforce Almanac public data portal and share practice-oriented research based on this open-access resource. Additional research will also explore how state governors are executing state workforce strategies, leveraging various funding streams, and coordinating across agencies and policy goals to improve state workforce systems.
